Leave the first response April 4, 2009 / Posted in Women's AidThe UK charity Women’s Aid want to end domestic violence against women and children by supporting a network of over 500 domestic and sexual violence services across the county. In Britain, two women a week are killed by a current or former partner.
To highlight the horror of domestic abuse, Woman’s Aid have launched a national domestic violence awareness campaign with a short film called “CUT”, starring award winning actress Keira Knightley and directed by BAFTA winner Joe Wright.
The Woman’s Aid website has suggestions on how we can all raise awareness of domestic violence amongst our family, friends, colleagues and community. As well as this short film there are storylines addressing domestic violence currently running in Channel 4’s Shameless and the BBC’s Eastenders.
In the UK 2 women are killed every week – just £2 a month can help Women’s Aid save lives. To find out more about how to donate click here to visit the Women’s Aid website.
