X Factor Finalist Release Charity Single for Great Ormand Street

It’s nearly Christmas and the season of the charity single is in full swing! Hot on the heels of Young Soul Rebels War Child charity single, the X Factor finalists are due to release their now annual charity effort. It will certainly be a hit if the success of last year’s smash single Hero in aid of Help For Heroes is anything to go by, which raised in excess of £1 million for the charity.

This year’s song is a cover of the Michael Jackson hit You Are Not Alone and cash raised from the sale of the record will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital, one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals.

A minimum of £1 from the sale of each copy of the single will go to the charity which needs to raise over £50 million every year to keep helping children get some of the best medical treatment in the world.

The contestants will perform the single for the first time on The X Factor during the results show on Sunday November 15 and will be released the next day. It is is available to pre-order now at iTunes, Amazon and Play.com.

It’s the Comic Relief news that we’ve all been waiting for! You can now buy the second official RND ‘09 song Barry Islands In The Stream as a download from iTunes and Play.com. Download the EP from iTunes and you will also get a copy of the full length of the video to go with the single! There is a guest appearance from another big star, but in case you haven’t seen it yet, we won’t spoil the surprise by telling you who it is!

The EP includes the cracking duet Islands in the Stream with very special guest star Sir Tom Jones, a version of Something Stupid and Uncle Bryn and his guitar in a very unique, but ultimately very tidy version of his favourite tune, Wiseman by James Blunt.

Probably one of the most anticipated musical events of the year takes place on Sunday, 8th March with the release of the official Comic Relief single. This year, it’s a complete treat for Gavin and Stacey fans as Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon reprise their magnificent duet Islands In the Stream.

According to The Mirror, the video for Barry Islands In the Stream follows Nessa and Bryn as they travel to Las Vegas to take part in the World Karaoke Championships, where they pick up some familiar backing singers in the shape of Sir Tom Jones and Robin Gibb!
