Wine Relief is back and asking the nation to help uncork bottles of cash for the 2007 Red Nose Day campaign. From 31 January to 16 March this Comic Relief initiative will see the UK’s biggest wine retailers donate 10 percent from the sale of selected wines to help tackle poverty and social injustice in the UK and Africa.

Thanks to the ongoing support of the Wine Relief retailers and drive of Jancis Robinson and Nick Lander, the campaign has raised a staggering £2million since its launch in 1999. This year Wine Relief is set to get even bigger!

For Wine Relief, John Lewis & Waitrose have created a special case of wines featuring:

  • Trincadeira 2004/05 J P Ramos, Alentejo, Portugal
  • Côtes du Rhône 2005 Chapoutier, France
  • Calvet Thunevin Vin de Pays Cuvée Constance 2004, South of France
  • Angove’s Stonegate Limited Release Petit Verdot 2005 S Australia
  • Gobelsburger Grüner Veltliner 2005 Kamptal, Austria
  • Bellingham ‘The Maverick’ Chenin Blanc 2005 Coastal Region, South Africa
  • Retailing at £85, 10% of the cost will be donated to Comic Relief. Download a free podcast by wine writer Jancis Robinson who has commented (and chosen) the featured wines.
