Coldplay Donate £1 million to Children’s Charity Kids Company
Leave the first response September 23, 2009 / Posted in NewsWe’re accustomed to bands making the headlines for all the wrong reasons, so it’s a nice change to see a group of musicians being praised for their philanthropic activities, even if the band is Coldplay
Joking aside, the band have donated £1 million pounds to the South London based Kids Company, a charity founded by Camila Batmanghelidjh in 1996 in order to provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people. The band have visited the charity a few times to see the work they are doing in the local communities and plan to return to give music lessons to the children who attend their centres.
Just to remind us of how great Coldplay are, below is the official video for the new single, Strawberry Swing.
It’s a shame this news has not been reported across more of the media, perhaps if news channels widened their focus from misbehaving celebs to more positive role models like Coldplay, more people would be encouraged to get involved with charitable work.
Rethink Breast Cancer Charity Saves Boobs
Leave the first response September 22, 2009 / Posted in Breast Cancer AwarenessRethink Breast Cancer are a Canadian breast cancer charity who have come up with a tongue in cheek video on You Tube to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Boobyball Save The Boobs video stars TV host Aliya-Jasmine who also wrote and co-directed the commercial.
At first glance, a film with a big breasted lady in a Myleene Klass IACGMOOH style bikini strolling round a pool in a bouncy way, may be considered gratuitous and sexist, but that would be missing the point.
Rethink Breast Cancer use creative and unconventional ways to communicate about breast cancer and aim to get across the serious issues of breast cancer in a creative and positive way to women young and old who may not be away of the risks of cancer or who are scared about doing a breast self-exam.
Show your boobs some love, check your breasts regularly and get your partner to join in too! For information on self breast examination, ask your GP or local nurse or click here to visit Dr Chris Steele’s website for instructions and helpful instructional video.

Time To Change Launch Schizophrenic Man Viral
Leave the first response August 25, 2009 / Posted in Time To ChangeAn interesting new viral campaign has been launched by Time to Change to highlight the ignorance and stigma that is attached to schizophrenia. The video is titled “Schizophrenic Man Terrifies Kids at a Party” is designed to test our own prejudices. The title alone perhaps conjures up something many may not want to see, but the reality is a very clever piece of educational and thoughtful video that should make you think twice about mental health.
‘Time to Change’ is England’s biggest and most ambitious campaign to end mental health discrimination. Time to Change is run by leading mental health charities Mind and Rethink, and backed by £16 million from the Big Lottery Fund and £2 million from Comic Relief.
This viral video has already attracted over 100 comments so far and almost 48.000 views on Youtube – have a watch!
You can find out more about the work of Time to Change on their official site as well as follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

It will not be available in the mainstream stores like HMV and it’s the first single since Do They Know It’s Christmas, by Band Aid, to appear in Oxfam’s high street shops.
