“WaterAid’s vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water and effective sanitation.”

The path out of poverty begins with clean water and sanitation. WaterAid is an international non governmental organisation dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people.

Wateraid work in 17 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region. To date they have helped over 9.5 million people gain access to clean, safe water.

Wateraid urgently need to help many more people and have plans in place to help an extra one million people gain access to water and one million people gain access to sanitation every year by 2010. Donate online and help support Wateraid.

To help them reach this target they need supporters who can make a regular gift to WaterAid by Direct Debit. Donating by Direct Debit saves administration costs and, because they know how much money is coming in, enables them to plan much needed work more effectively

Despite the UK being the fifth richest country in the world, millions of people in Britain wake up every day in housing that is run-down, overcrowded or dangerous. Many others have lost their home altogether. Bad housing robs us of security, health, and a fair chance in life.

Shelter believes everyone should have a home. the charity helps people find and keep a home, plus they actively campaign for decent housing for all. Shelter believes everyone should have a home.

The price of flowers, and especially roses, at this time year can be a bit pricey – however, love is in the are and that will mean plenty of bouquets will be sold for St Valentine’s Day.
