Mother’s Day is on the 22nd March and if you are not sure what to get that special lady in your life, have you considered a charity gift? The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the nation’s heart charity. It’s dedicated to saving lives though pioneering research, patient care and vital information. They rely on donations of time and money to continue their life-saving work – like that shown below.

With over 2.6 million people suffering with heart disease in the UK today – The BHF need to raise funds to continue investing in pioneering research, supporting and caring for heart patients and providing vital information to help people reduce their own risk of dying prematurely from a heart or circulatory related illness!

You can support The BHF in a number of ways – from making a direct donation to offering much needed stock for their charity shops. You can also shop online and give virtual gifts such as “nurse a broken heart” and “cardiac arrest predictor”.

I Can, the children’s communication charity, need your help to help them raise £50000. All you need to do is visit their Rhymestars site and cast your vote for the nation’s favourite nursery rhyme. They need to pick up 50,000 votes before the end of April to unlock a £50000 donation from OpenReach.

If you do vote you also have the chance to win some great prizes including an iPod Touch or Sony Ericsson W910i. Prizes are being awarded throughout the month.

Katie Melua has recorded a unique duet with Eva Cassidy to give Tesco and The Red Cross a Christmas Charity record for 2007. What a Wonderful World is out now.

Tesco will donate all profits from sales of the single to the British Red Cross. The track is exclusively available at Tesco and can be downloaded from Tesco.com!

Support The Poppy Appeal On Facebook & Mobile

This year the Royal British Legion have embraced new ways to reach out for donations for the annual Poppy Appeal. For example you can show your support by adding a message at the bottom of each email you send (like the one at the top of this blog). You need to register your details and then attach a small piece of code to your email signature – this will remain active until just after Rememberance Day.

As well as email you can download Poppy wallpaper to your mobile! Text ‘Poppy’ to 85552 and donate £1.50 to the Poppy Appeal. This is suitable for WAP phones only. Details are available here. If you’re a Facebook user then you can also add the Facebook Poppies App. Don’t forget to share it with your Facebook friends.

The path out of poverty begins with clean water and sanitation. WaterAid is an international non governmental organisation dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people.

Wateraid work in 17 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region. To date they have helped over 9.5 million people gain access to clean, safe water.

Wateraid urgently need to help many more people and have plans in place to help an extra one million people gain access to water and one million people gain access to sanitation every year by 2010. Donate online and help support Wateraid.
