BBC’s Sport Relief charity fundraising event was helped by a massive £5.5million mystery donation (The BBC). It was the largest telephone donation ever made in the 22 years of Comic Relief. That donation, plus money raised thanks to the likes of celebrity boxing, an Alan Shearer and Adrian Chiles bike ride, and a swim to Africa by David Walliams and James Cracknell meant that the overall total was around £20million.
You can still donate to Sport Relief via the official website as well as relive some of the highlights of the evening. Plus you can support the cause by buying the official Sport Relief single Better in Time from Leona Lewis.
If you prefer something a little sportier then there’s a special Sport Relief football DVD presented by ex-Soccer AM and now Something for the Weekend presenter Tim Lovejoy called Football Managers Uncut - A Guide to the Game’s Greatest Gaffers.
At least £2 from each DVD goes to the Sport Relief charity.
