Haiti Earthquake Appeal Celebrity Auction
Leave the first response January 28, 2010 / Posted in OxfamGlastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis and Oxfam have put together a celebrity charity auction on eBay to raise money for their Haiti Earthquake Appeal. While you can’t actually nab yourself a celebrity in the auction, you can bid on some seriously cool stuff that has been generously donated by musicians, including Glastonbury VIP tickets, a Florence and the Machine Limited edition signed print and loads more.
The mighty Muse have donated the custom Tama drumkit that Dom used throughout the Black Holes & Revelations… 2006-2008 tour and is a serious bit of kit, ever more so if you are a Muse fan! The current winning bid stands at £2,500, though we fully expect this to go higher once we’ve cleared out the garage
Above is Muse performing Supermassive Black Hole at Wembley in 2007 with Dom using the very drum kit up for auction.
The auction is open now and closes at 0900 on Tuesday 2 February with more items being added all the time. So head on over and while bagging yourself some great music and movie memorabilia, remember all proceeds will go to the Oxfam Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

Rage Against The Machine Won’t Do What You Tell Them Shock
Leave the first response December 17, 2009 / Posted in NewsRage against the Machine were live via satellite phone on BBC Radio 5 Live this morning to talk about the Rage Against the Machine Christmas No.1 Campaign and they confirmed that in addition to the donations to Shelter made by buyers of the record in the UK, the group will also donate proceeds from the sales of their single to the charity.
At the end of the interview with the band and the Facebook group’s co-founder Jon Morter, Rage Against the Machine performed a very censored version of the song, right up until the very end… enjoy! The clip below does include swearing towards the end, so avoid if you are easily offended.
The song is cut short by the producer saying “we told them not to do that”. Seriously, what did they expect?
You can almost get the feeling that Nicky Campbell would have been happy to let them carry on till the end of the song.
So, if you haven’t already bought your copy of the Rage Against the Machine song, visit the Facebook, join the group and buy your copy of Killing in the Name this week and enjoy! Available at most good record stores.

Rage Against the Machine to be Christmas Number 1?
Leave the first response December 17, 2009 / Posted in NewsWill the Rage Against the Machine track, Killing In The Name Of, be Christmas number 1 this year? Let’s hope so! The Facebook group that started a few weeks ago in an attempt to end The X Factor Christmas no.1 monopoly, has captured the imagination of the nation. At time of writing over 800,222 users have joined the group and they have raised over £42,743.51 for the charity Shelter by asking members to make a donation on the Just Giving website when they buy a copy of the single.
However, Ladbrokes have Joe McElderry favourite at 1/5 with Rage Against The Machine at 3/1 in second place, well ahead of Lady Gaga at 25/1. A quick scan in Tesco (other supermarkets are available) earlier today in the CD section only had the new single releases and no RATM. If this is indicative of most supermarkets, then unfortunately the X Factor tune may sneaky it as shoppers pick up a copy with their their Christmas shopping!
So, if you haven’t already bought your copy of the Rage Against the Machine song, visit the campaign information page on Facebook, join the group and buy your copy of Killing in the Name this week! Available at most good record stores – but not in a Tesco in Swansea.
Next week will be too late!
